FAQ
We asked a longtime client (and cheer coach) to fire
some questions at us which potential customers might find helpful:
1. Are you going out of business?
No. We are in the process of merging with a large, long-established wig corporation. They offered us a sweet deal that we could not refuse. Our products are headed into a direction that is quite exciting. You may be able to purchase your Cheer Curls® brand hairpieces in stores soon.
We realize that a particular competitior has inferred that we are going out of business. It's wishful thinking on their part.
2. Your curls look so natural and they never droop. How do you do it?
We are very fortunate to have some of the top wig designers in the industry working with us. We only use 100% Modacrylic fiber in our hairpieces. Each wiglet / hairpiece style is constructed of the precise fiber content which will provide the best appearance.
For example: 100% Kanekalon is a very soft fiber. It’s very natural and looks beautiful in wiglets with straight or soft waves. However, it will not retain a ringlet curl for very long. The soft quality of 100% Kanekalon will eventually allow the ringlet to droop.
Enter our designers to the rescue!
Our Classic Curls are made of Kanekalon-7, with an added element ( Toyakalon ) which strengthens and forces the hair to stay firmly curled. This fiber content allows the ringlets to stay permanently curled, yet lay naturally against the head.
3. I’ve noticed several other companies & websites that advertise “Cheer Curls” or “Cheer Curls style” hairpieces. Are their hairpieces made by your company?
No, they are not made by our company.
Cheer Curls® is a registered trademark for our specific brand name. The CHEER CURLS® Company designs, manufactures and distributes authentic Cheer Curls® brand hairpieces. If you did not purchase your hairpiece from us, you did not purchase a Cheer Curls® brand hairpiece. Our hairpieces are only sold directly through our company, via this website.
We do not wholesale our products or sell through retail outlets, vendors, sales reps or online businesses (other than our own website.)
4. I've seen color codes posted on a competitor's website that ( by coincidence, I'm sure ) match your color rings. Does it bother you when other hairpiece companies steal your color rings?
Absolutely not. They have done us a huge favor. What these silly "competitors" don't realize is that customers look at their transposition codes and then come back to us to order! We couldn't pay for better advertising.
5. Recently, I asked about a style of hairpiece which your company doesn’t carry. I was amazed when you recommended another business who does carry it. Do you do that all the time?
Sure, why not? If you (or any customer) wants an item which we do not manufacture or sell, we are very happy to steer you toward a company which does have the item. We will only recommend businesses who we know to be reputable and carry top quality merchandise.
6. I love your easy Exchange Policy.
Thanks! We do not hold you to a time limit for exchanges. We hope you’ll make the exchange in a reasonable amount of time. However, as long as the hairpiece is returned to us in new condition, unworn, with the tags and hairnet intact, we’ll honor the exchange. Just be sure to enclose a note that tells us the color you would prefer. Name, address, phone number and email contact should also be included.
That’s it. We don’t need invoices or receipts. We have your shipping records already on file and that is sufficient as proof of purchase. We make sure that exchanges are painless and efficient.
7. As a coach, I insist that my girls sew the hairpieces into their hair. I understand that this is the only method of attachment that you endorse.
It really is the most secure method of attachment that we have found. Nothing looks worse during a routine than a hairpiece lying on the mat. Not only is it an embarrassment, it’s a safety issue. Bobby pins and ties are too unreliable.
All of our hairpieces have a drawstring cord and little combs inside. The cap stretches and expands. If you choose not to sew your hairpiece into your hair, you have this option.
However, we only endorse and recommend the "sew-in" method of attachment for hairpieces. We include a vinyl needle and thread with each hairpiece, along with an instruction booklet, so that you may do so.
We have been involved with cheerleading / dance for 35+ years and have seen enough hairpieces hit the ground to know that if you choose to wear hairpieces for competitions, it's best to attach them as securely as possible.
If a hairpiece company claims that their hairpieces do not "need" to be sewn into place and will not fall off during the rigors of a cheereading routine, ask them what their return policy is if the hairpiece falls off.
Our opinion is simple: Honesty is the best policy. There is always the risk that a hairpiece ( or shoe or bow or socks ) can come off during a cheerleading routine. Sewing the hairpiece into place, regardless of the brand of hairpiece you are using, can lessen that risk. We would never, ever advise any competitive cheerleader to go onto the competition floor unless her hairpiece is sewn into her hair.
"Sewing" hairpieces into place really isn't anything new. My mother studied ballet in the early 50s and the girls always sewed their hairpieces into their natural hair. I still have one of her hairpieces and it looks very much like one of our Classic Curls.
8. Can I use spray-colors or spray-glitter on my hairpiece?
We do not recommend that you use spray-colors or spray-glitter on your hairpiece.
There may be chemicals in the spray-on colors or spray-on glitter that have the potential to ruin synthetic hair. Additionally, once you spray these materials into your hairpiece, it may be there forever. Spray glitter can adhere to synthetic hair like glue and even if you attempt to wash it out, it can remain on the hair shaft. The spray-paint may have the same effect, along with changing the color of your synthetic hairpiece.
If you want to use spray-glitter or spray-color on your hair, we suggest that you only use it on your own natural hair ( the crown / top of your head ) and not your pretty hairpiece. You will still have the effect of glitter ( or spray-painted colors ) without destroying or permanently changing the appearance of your hairpiece.
Very Important: Before deciding to spray paint or glitter into your own hair, check the rules of the competition you will be attending.
Pop Warner, for instance, will not allow cheer teams to use colors in their hair. This rule may even include our Glitz*Flipzz style. Some Pop Warner organizations are fine with it, others may not be. If you are a Pop Warner team, it's best to check with your regional director.
Please note the following, which is quoted from Pop Warner's 2008 rules and regulations:
Hair Color
Situation: I have a squad that wants to wear blue hair extensions (clip in, bow type with blue hair). Since many squads wear the wiglets (curly and/or straight pony tails) and as long as everyone had them, would this be OK or considered a prop?
Response: The Blue Hair color for the entire squad would be considered a prop. This type of accessory with hair color is reserved for Dance Squad Costuming only.

9. What is the easiest way to contact you?
Email, email, email! We have very limited phone hours and prefer contact via email. All too often, information conveyed in a telephone conversation is misunderstood or forgotten altogether. Email eliminates those possibilities. It also provides you (and us) with a printed record of contact. We respond to all email messages every two hours throughout the business day. Somebody is always available to assist you.
10. Do you still provide free hairpieces for team members who have medical hair loss disorders?
Yes. It doesn't matter what the disorder is and we don't ask that you tell us. Whether caused by illness, chemo, injury .... whatever. We will provide the hairpiece free of charge. The coach or parent just needs to contact us ( email is best. ) A member of the ACS has given us some great tips about using a hairpiece to camoflage partial hair loss, as well as blending a hairpiece with an existing wig. We aren't experts at styling, but we will do our best to offer some ideas.
